Biology is the branch of science concerned with the study of living organisms. You will need a qualification in this subject if you want to study Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science etc. For many other university courses, although not essential it will be highly regarded especially in conjunction with Arts-based subjects.
There is no particular field of interest where living organisms are concerned, and you will come to realise how much of a broad subject biology is as you progress further through the course. When studying biology, it is best to read around each of the topics you cover, how much extra reading you do is up to you, but it is advised that to achieve a high 'A' grade extra reading is a must.
Practical sessions are not required as we are now an International Centre at both AS and A2 level.
Students are required to recognise, recall and show understanding of specific chemical facts, terminology, principles, concepts and practical. They should then be able to use this information to interpret phenomena and effects in terms of chemical principles, by presenting arguments and ideas in a clear and logical fashion.
Practical sessions are not required as we are an international centre for both AS and A2 level.
The aims of this specification are to encourage students to develop an understanding of economic concepts through a critical consideration of current economic issues, problems and institutions that affect everyday life. These then have to be applied to ‘real world’ situations, identifying strengths and weaknesses from the view of the citizen, the producers, the government and global developments in the market economy.
Studying the literature itself is really a process of having a good read, and using the resources available through Bright Futures to help you to interpret the text you are currently studying. Then to place it in some sort of historical and social context - and using the tutor to try your ideas out on, submit practice essays too for feedback, and to discuss the material that you come across.
Each year set texts are provided by the exam board for study, these will be discussed at your enrolment.

There are 18 units in the specifications provided by QCA for exam boards to achieve in their delivery of A Level Mathematics. These primarily are to develop mathematical understanding and processes to allow a student to reason logically and recognise incorrect reasoning. This in turn will allow progression to different areas of mathematics. Students will be required to recognise ‘Real World’ problems and how they can be refined and improved.
This subject requires the skills of A Level Mathematics plus the ability to use mathematics as an effective means of communication. Using technology, such as calculators and computers effectively, recognising when such use may be more appropriate and be aware of their limitations.
The aims of the Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced GCE Physics specifications are to encourage students to develop essential knowledge and understanding in physics. Where appropriate, the applications of physics, and the skills needed for the use of this in new and changing situations. This understanding should then be developed related to present day society
Topics covered include, Mechanics, radioactivity, electricity, thermal physics, astrophysics, waves, our universe, fields and forces.
A practical exam is not required as we are an international centre for both AS and A2 level .
